THE
ORGANIZATION
The Nationwide Association Of Consumers (NACI), Inc. is a non-stock, non-government organization (NGO) registered
with the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) with SEC Registration No. ANO94-002719 dated July 20, 1994. It is the
only consumer organization of national stature that has been accredited, so far, by the Department of Trade & Industry
with Accreditation Certificate No. 01 dated November 12, 2003.
The
organization's main advocacy is Consumer Welfare and Economic Empowerment of Consumers.
" We believe that the best protected consumer is one who is economically
empowered and well informed ".
NACI
operates through its regional and provincial chapters nationwide, and also through its affiliated organizations, mostly Cooperatives,
in the provinces. It provides technical assistance to its members and affiliates in terms of the following:
· develops
feasibility studies and project proposals for economic empowerment;
· conducts
training and seminars on Consumer Rights & Responsibilities, and on issues
of concern relevant to consumer welfare & protection.
· transfers
livelihood technology for local implementation;
· represents
its members in public hearings and conferences on matters that affect consumer welfare;
· represents
its aggrieved members in dispute resolutions through the mediation of the Dep't of Trade & Industry (DTI), or Securities
& Exchange Commission (SEC), or any concerned government agency.
In
this particular project, NACI addresses Consumer Right No. 1: " The right of consumers to basic needs "( food, shelter, clothing,
education, etc.).
There is a need to ensure that the country’s social
and economic resources are managed in a manner that is open, transparent, accountable and equitable. Consumers and their representatives
have a significant part to play in achieving that goal. However, to play that part, the consumer movement recognizes that
there is a need for increased cooperation and collaboration between and amongst existing
consumer and consumer-related organizations and for the capacities of these groups and the knowledge of consumers to be improved. Unless this is done, consumers and consumer advocates will not be in a position to
effectively push for improvement in economic governance and that important stimulus for competition reform will be less effective
than it could otherwise be.
The Nationwide Association
of Consumers, Inc. is continually developing projects and activities towards the goal of economic and political empowerment
for consumers and consumer groups throughout the Philippines.

Agriforestry Project for Essential Oil Industry
(Lemongrass, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Vetiver)
The demand for essential oils in the world market is increasing.
More and more companies are searching for other sources of high-grade, cost-efficient essential oils and hydrolats for perfumes,
cosmetics, food and massage oils. NACI's AGRIFORESTRY PROJECT, particularly the farming and distilling of lemongrass,
is a viable and profitable business project for investors who know the potential this high-demand product has to
offer. click here for more information
|
NACI Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Project
Another high-demand product in the world market these days is EXTRA VIRGIN
COCONUT OIL or coconut oil extraced from the fruit through cold process (no use of heat at any stage). This keeps the coconut
oil from spoilage longer than oil subjected to heat process. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is used not only for cooking, but as
a health supplement, massage oil, ingredient in bath and detergent soap, shampoo and face creams. The leftover pulp from the
pressed coconut meat could also be used in producing COCONUT FLOUR.
The NEVCO (NACI Extra Virgin Coconut Oil) Project includes income and financial
projections for interested investors who want to get into this low-budget, highly profitable business. click here for more info
